My Top 4 Resources to Get Motivated
There will always be times on your health journey when motivation disappears. In fact, motivation doesn’t last – but discipline does… and the only way to build discipline is to do what needs done even in those times when you don’t feel like doing it.
It’s on days when I sleep past my alarm to get to the gym and choose to eat a calorie-rich and nutrient-poor meal, even though the fridge is stocked with a rainbow of fruits and veggies, that I realize I need to refocus on my WHY – the REASON I initially made my health goals in the first place.
To find my WHY again, I know I need a boost in motivation. Here are My Top 4 Resources to Get Motivated when you need to hit the reset button…
1. Motivational Videos
YouTube “Motivational Videos” and an abundance of inspirational speakers or even a compilation of speakers will pop-up in your search. My favorite speakers consist of self-help (no shame!) professionals, celebrities, athletes and business women and men; I am blown away by their success and resiliency.
The beauty of these videos is you don’t need to watch them – just listen to them while you’re in the car or washing dishes and you will find inspiration!
A few of my favorite speakers include…
- Tony Robbins
- Mel Robbins
- Jay Shetty
- Eric Thomas
- Oprah Winfrey
- Jack Canfield
- Will Smith
- Brene Brown
- Les Brown
- Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
- Matthew Mcconaughey
- Denzel Washington
- Jim Carrey
- Zig Zigler
2. Inspiring and/or Educational Films
As you may know, I am about 95% plant-based and I originally transitioned into this lifestyle after educating myself and watching informational documentaries on food. When I am really struggling to eat nutrient-dense meals or prep my food, I rewatch these films. Some of my favorites include…
- Forks Over Knives
- What the Health
- The Game Changers
- Food Inc
- Supersize Me
When motivation to move my body is lacking, I like to watch films that push physical limits. A few of my favorites are…
- G.I. Jane
- Million Dollar Baby
- Fittest On Earth
- I Am Bolt
Guess what?! You can watch these films while you workout.
3. Influential Books
Reading is one of my favorite past times because it’s so relaxing and honestly, is a healthy “getaway” from some of life’s hardships. But instead of diving deep into a romantic novel, I like to read books that motivate me to become better each and every day.
You’ll find a list of the books that have had the most impact on my success and my health and wellness journey…
- The 5 Second Rule
- The Secret
- The Power of Habit
- Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones
- Awaken the Giant Within
- The Power of Now
- Start with Why
- The Compound Effect
4. Motivational Podcasts
Podcasts are making a comeback and I love to passively listen to various shows while driving or folding laundry (mainly because it makes the time go by faster, haha!).
Some podcasts I find motivational are…
- The GaryVee Audio Experience
- The Tony Robbins Podcast
- Unlocking Us
- Optimal Living Daily
- TED Talks Daily
- Super Soul Conversations
My hope for you is that you find motivation again and pick-up on your health journey from where you left off. Success is right around the corner and you have everything you need in this moment to believe in yourself and take a step forward.
Maybe that next step will be completing this at-home 20-Minute Lower Body Workout.
