Asian Glazed Brussels Sprouts

Need a side dish or appetizer to serve at your next dinner or family gathering? I’ve got you covered!

These Asian Glazed Brussels Sprouts only take 20 minutes to bake and are super nutrient-dense! Plus, they are high in fiber, which can promote regularity, support digestive health and reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

What I love most about this super easy appetizer is that they are a hit with the fam no matter the vibe of the meal.

Ingredients (makes 2-4 servings)

  • 4 C. Fresh Brussels Sprouts (end removed, then halved)
  • 1 tbsp. + 2 tsp. Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt & pepper

Asian Glaze

  • 2 tbsp. Soy sauce (low sodium if possible)
  • 1 tsp. Toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp. Honey (or agave if vegan)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Chili paste
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground ginger

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp. Green onion (chopped)
  • Sesame Seeds

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Use a paper towel to get any moisture off the Brussels sprouts. Then add them to a mixing bowl and coat them with the olive oil, pepper and a dash of salt.
  3. Place the Brussels face down on a nonstick baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, turning halfway through cook time.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze. Using the same mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, vinegar, chili paste, garlic, and ginger. Pour the sauce into a small pot.
  5. Over medium heat, bring the sauce to a simmer, constantly stirring. Heat the sauce for 4-5 minutes until it thickens and becomes a glaze. Remove from stove and set aside.
  6. When the Brussels sprouts are cooked, toss them with the glaze in the mixing bowl, then garnish with green onion and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

If you are following the SBH Plant-Based 21-Day Meal Plan, one of two servings of Brussel Sprouts is approximately:

• 1 serving of Vegetables
• 1 serving of Healthy Fats

Note: Strong.Bold.Healthy does not promote calorie counting. However, being that some may use calorie counting as a tool to help maintain a healthy weight, 1 of 2 servings of Asian Glazed Brussel Sprouts is approximately 125 calories. Nutritional information is a rough estimate.
